What does Acadia Psychiatry offer?

Acadia Psychiatry is a small, privately owned group based in Bar Harbor, Maine. We have several providers to meet your needs, as well as administrative staff, billers, and IT support. As Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners trained across the lifespan, we see patients ages 6 years old and up through adulthood to end of life. Our focus is the diagnosis of mental conditions per the DSM-V. We prescribe medications to treat these conditions and manage the medications using a holistic approach to your overall health. We perform add-on psychotherapy during each visit in conjunction with your medication management appointment. We do not offer stand alone therapy sessions and we encourage our patients to seek regular therapy with an outside licensed therapist.

Step 2:

Once the form is submitted, you will receive an email with a link to schedule your new patient appointment. Appointments are available for both online (telehealth) and in-person visits. Be sure to check your Junk/Spam folder, as sometimes the email may end up there.

The first appointment takes 1 hour. Follow-up appointments are typically 30 minutes.

If possible, please have any previous psychiatric records or records from your primary care physician faxed to me at 207-569-6087. While this is not required, it would be extremely helpful in ensuring we provide you with the most comprehensive care.

Please note: It is the patient's responsibility to verify that this office and your provider are in-network with your insurance to prevent being charged cash for your appointment.

You will also be able to join the Patient Portal and join Spruce. Spruce is our secure communication platform, available as an app on your phone. This will allow you to text with us securely within the app.

As a patient at Acadia Psychiatry, you will have access to a Patient Portal where you can access your records, plan, and research articles your provider sends to you. In addition, you will have access to communication with your provider directly through the HIPAA compliant Spruce app.

My name is Shannon Murray. I have been a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) since 2012, and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) since 2022. I am board certified in both Anesthesia and Psychiatry. I opened Acadia Psychiatry, PLLC to serve members of our community here in Maine.
