On the first visit we will meet for 1 to 1.5 hours in person at our office: 1049 Main Street Ste 2S Mount Desert, ME 04660 or via TELEHEALTH. Our goal is to build a trusting patient-practitioner relationship. A comprehensive psychiatric assessment seeks to review what you are experiencing and begin to establish a diagnosis and route for treatment.
After the initial visit we will meet together either in person or via tele-health to discuss how you have been since we last met. We will discuss the recommendations that are working well and any changes we may need to make. This could include discussing medication, lab work, or holistic interventions.
These visits are usually 30 minutes in length. Therapy using techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing are also incorporated into our sessions. Each individual treatment plan is different, but frequency of visits range from weekly to every 2-3 months.
We love to offer available communication between appointments to address concerns that may come up. Emails and calls are generally returned within 1-3 business days. Acadia Psychiatry, PLLC currently accepts health insurance and self-pay. Please email me at shannon@acadiapsychiatry.com to find out if we accept your insurance. For self-pay clients we can provide superbills which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement if you have PPO insurance. We recommend you calling your insurance about out of network benefits/reimbursement.

All paperwork must be completed prior to scheduling an appointment. Payment information will have to be entered at the time of booking the appointment. Payment will be processed the day of your appointment. We require 24 hour notice of cancellation to avoid being charged for the appointment.
